1350 Modular Concept Unveiled at London Design Fair

Yesterday saw the official launch of my new 1350 Modular furniture concept at London Design Fair. The prototype products attracted a lot of attention and received some incredibly positive feedback.

Four main key elements - cabinet and drawer units in either 450mm or 900mm widths - can be assembled in numerous different configurations with the aid of a standard selection of legs, rails and dividers.

Cabinets and drawers are available in a wide range of different colours, and custom colours are also available*.

Production of the range is scheduled to commence in the coming weeks, and all products will be in stock in early 2019.

For more information, email us at hello@iancull.co.uk Let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list to receive updates on this exciting new collection.

* some colour options may be subject to an additional cost and/or minimum order quantities.

Production Begins!

Today marks a very special day... the day the first components of my new 1350 collection roll off the production line. After months of planning, preparation and development work with production partner Crystal Doors, it's so good to see the products finally come to life.

My 1350 collection is going to be unveiled at September's London Design Fair at the Old Truman Brewery from 20th to 23rd September.

Handle, meet door. Door, meet handle.

Things are coming together nicely for the launch of my new 1350 collection at this year's London Design Fair. Two important prototype parts came into the studio last week and it's great to see how they work together.

There's still lots to do, but it's great being able to touch and feel real components and finally get an idea of how the finished product will look!

 More updates to follow!

Prototypes!

Today was an exciting day. Today was also thankfully a good day. To witness the birth of a new concept is what I love about my job.

Part of my new 1350 concept now exists in a physical form, albeit as an initial MDF prototype to assess any production and assembly issues, but it's so good to see how it will look and to be able to touch and feel it for the first time.

The next stage is to adapt my drawings slightly to better suit the production processes being used, and then I'll move on to the other modules that make up the final collection.

London Design Fair 2018

I'm excited to announce that I'm going to be launching a brand new collection of furniture at this year's London Design Fair from 20th to 23rd September. The event is located in the creative heart of East London and brings together 550 exhibitors from 36 countries, including independent designers and established brands. For more information visit www.londondesignfair.co.uk

Whilst I'm no stranger to exhibiting my designs at similar industry events, this occasion will be extra special as it is the first time I'm exhibiting under my own name. I'm working closely with UK manufacturer Crystal Doors to develop a range of modular furniture using materials and manufacturing techniques normally associated with commercial applications. Crystal Doors have a state-of-the-art production facility based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. I've worked with them on a number of designs over recent years and it's a great honour to have their support throughout this exciting project.

The collection, named 1350, has been designed specifically for London Design Fair and the journey from prototype to production has only just begun. You can follow the entire warts-and-all process as the products come to life on this blog. I'll be posting regular updates at all stages of development, demonstrating in as much detail as possible how I work, the decisions that get made, any issues that crop up and how they are resolved.

Since I became an independent designer back in 2010 it has always been my dream to establish my own UK-manufactured product range. I already have an established range of small UK-made accessories - available to purchase from my online shop - but this new project is my first truly independent foray into larger items of furniture.

Check back soon for updates...

From April 2018 onward you'll be able to follow the development of a brand-new range of modular furniture that is being launched in September. It'll be a warts-and-all documentary of all that happens during the various stages of development from sketch to finished item.
